Glucose fluctuations in association with oxidative stress among children with type 1 diabetes mellitus: comparison of different phases

چکیده
Methods Children treated for T1DM at Beijing Children’s hospital from 2010 to 2013 were enrolled and divided EQUALLY into three study groups including newly diagnosed children (Group A, acute metabolic disturbance phase), Group B (honeymoon phase), and Group C (long-standing phase). Healthy control children were matched to the T1DM patients by age and sex. The 24-hour urinary free 8-iso-prostaglandin F2a to creatinine (8-isoPGF2a/Cr) ratio indicated oxidative stress. Glucose fluctuation parameters (GFPs) included mean blood glucose levels (MBG), standard deviation of daily blood glucose levels (SDBG), mean amplitude of glucose excursions (MAGE), and incremental area under the curve for postprandial glucose (IAUC). GFPs and 8-isoPGF2a/Cr levels in the study groups were compared and the association of GFPs and 8-isoPGF2a/Cr across groups was assessed.

متن کاملComparison of oxidative stress between patients with diabetes type 2 and healthy
Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases around the world with increasing prevalence in Iran. Weakening of the antioxidant defense system that accompanies this illness may lead to several complications. In this study, we evaluated the parameters of oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes and compared them with healthy individuals. Methods: In this c...
متن کاملEffect of Camel Milk on Oxidative Stresses in Experimentally Induced Diabetic Rabbits
Camel milk has an importance in the treatment of diabetes. It has been shown that the patients who drink camel milk daily, their need to insulin decrease. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of camel milk in comparison with insulin treatment in experimentally-induced diabetes. This study was carried out on forty male New Zealand rabbits, divided into four groups with ten rabbi...
متن کاملEffect of repaglinide versus glimepiride on daily blood glucose variability and changes in blood inflammatory and oxidative stress markers
BACKGROUND Hemoglobin A1c is the main treatment target for patients with type 2 diabetes. It has also been shown recently that postprandial glucose and daily glucose fluctuations affect the progression of diabetic complications and atherosclerotic damages. METHODS Continuous glucose monitoring was performed in patients with type 2 diabetes to evaluate the efficacy of repaglinide vs. glimepiri...
متن کاملAssociation between Metabolic Syndrome Criteria and Body-composition Components in Children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
Background Metabolic syndrome (MES) consists of central obesity, hypertension, reduced high density lipoprotein (HDL), elevated serum triglycerides and high Fasting blood sugar (FBS). They are susceptible to cardio-vascular disease, and insulin resistance. The goal of present research was to assess any relation between the composition of the body in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) children and ...
